Clear, accurate writing for complex science.

Neuroscientist & Science Communicator — Portland, Oregon, open to remote and hybrid work

I help researchers, clinicians, and biomedical organizations turn dense findings into writing that holds up — manuscripts, grant narratives, regulatory documentation, and communication for audiences ranging from peer reviewers to the general public.

About

Background

Portland, OR Open to remote & hybrid engagements

I am a PhD neuroscientist with over a decade of biomedical research experience at Oregon Health & Science University, where writing has been as central to my work as time at the bench. Across manuscripts, grant narratives, regulatory documentation, and public-facing communication, the task is always the same: take dense, technical findings and render them clearly and accurately for whoever needs to understand them, whether that is a peer reviewer, a funder, a trainee, or the public.

As a postdoctoral scholar, and previously as a graduate researcher in the Mishra Lab at OHSU's Vollum Institute, I have authored and co-authored peer-reviewed publications, written successful NIH/NINDS fellowship and grant applications, developed SOPs for IACUC-governed research, and mentored more than twenty students and lab members in scientific writing and protocol design.

I bring that same discipline to freelance work — helping labs, clinicians, and biotech teams get their science into print, in front of funders, or in front of the public, on deadline and without losing precision.

How I can help

From first draft to final submission, across the full lifecycle of scientific and medical writing.

01

Manuscript Writing & Editing

Drafting and revision for peer-reviewed submission, including figure coordination, journal formatting compliance, and response-to-reviewer correspondence.

02

Grant & Fellowship Writing

Narrative development for NIH, NINDS, foundation, and internal funding mechanisms, along with progress reports and submission logistics.

03

Literature Review & Evidence Synthesis

Rigorous background research and synthesis on clinical and translational topics, in support of publications, proposals, or internal reports.

04

Regulatory & Compliance Documentation

SOP development and documentation for IACUC-governed research, written for clarity, consistency, and audit-readiness.

05

Science Communication

Translating mechanistic, technical findings into accessible language for mixed expert and lay audiences — web copy, outreach content, and public engagement.

06

Conference & Presentation Materials

Abstracts, posters, and talks developed from primary data, drawing on experience presenting at GRC, CSHL, and SfN.
